I attended the Chocolate Blues and Business Networking Festival In Indianapolis yesterday and it was a great networking opportunity and a great event. Part of planning for the event meant taking a few minutes to think about how I greet people and introduce myself..

For me, successful networking at any event starts with asking the other person to tell me about themselves and their business. Sure, I'm excited to introduce myself and tell everyone about my work, but I know that if I can open the discussion asking about the other person's work, then the opportunity to joijn forces to help each other can quickly present itself. Sometimes I discover a good fit for my business and sometimes I discover a good opportunity to help connect someone I know with a good business partner for them.

It all begins with how we greet and meet new people with our minds set on listening and getting to know them rather than talking and getting them to know us. Tell me about you!

Hi Karen, my name is Brack Rayles. I have been married for 8 years, am the father of 2 very cool boys.

I have been in business for myself in one way or another since '01. My wife's schedule was and is demanding at times, and I realized then, if our family was ever going to see other, I needed to develop a flexible schedule of working from home. So, I've tried a lot of different ventures, and have struggled to find my niche.

In the last 2 years, I've been developing a community-based website for my hometown. With the help of the open-source community, I've been gaining a knowledge of code I never intended to learn. I started with zero knowledge of code and since have developed many sites with varying interests. I love what I do now. Yeah, I haven't developed a sustainable income, but with patience, I know that'll come too.

Through this journey, God has shown me that I don't need to be anybody but who He uniquely made me to be. I was most unhappy with my life when I was trying to be someone else. So this is where I'm realizing that networking on a site like this is crucial to my pursuits. I need to meet with folks, like you, who have the abilities that I don't. I'm excited about joining.
Thanks for sharing a little bit more about yourself. Good luck with your business and welcome to this wonderful world of networking. For me, trying to find time to reach out and connect with others is a very rewarding way of doing business. Happy Networking and if I can be of any help to you, please let me know.
Best of life,
Karen Bachert
I'm married with three daughters age 6, 10 and 12. We live near Morse Reservoir in Noblesville where our kids attend Noblesville Schools. We're members of Hazel Dell Christian Church in northeastern Carmel, Indiana. Although I have the most fun spending time with family and friends, I also enjoy singing on Sunday mornings and helping ministries with their computer technology needs. To earn a living I own Fixed Bid Consulting, an Indianapolis-based Microsoft Certified Partner providing high-ROI technology solutions to companies from 25 to 250 employees.
I love the links Luke. Great idea

Hi Karen-

I work as a full time office manager/vision therapist and also do part-time insurance billing as well as selling Discovery Toys and Premier Designs Jewelry. I am married and have 2 grown daughters and three small grandchildren. I am raising my granddaughter, Gracie, who is 18 months old. I forgot how hard it was! I am actually just starting to sell Premier Designs and am hoping it really takes off. I'm always looking for ways to help with childcare.

I also was at the Choc Blues festival and had a wonderful time. What do you do?

I am Shravan from India. I am married and have 1 daughter, she is going to be 5 years this 7th October. Her name is Hadassah Navalini. She was a Miracle child. God was so gracious by gifting this child to us.
I own PeopleAccord Consulting Services, a staffing company in India. I am into business for last 6 years. Seen lot of up and downs and mostly now at recession times our industry was also worstly hit, I have heard companies closing down everyday. Bible Says in Psa:46:1 God is our shelter and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble. This promise came truly for me. With His help we could sustain into business till now. And I am sure we will overcome in the days to come and see success multifold :). I always wanted to be part of christian community, I am so fortunate to be the part of CBNA, before that i had no clue of CBNA. I Strongly believe that it was God's Plan that we should be in HIS boundaries.
I look forward to interact and hear from you all those encouraging words and build up our faith till we see HIM again.

Thanking you.
Cheers
Shravan
