How much is your faith worth to you?
Have you ever heard a Preacher say that we "need to step out of our comfort zone"?
When Jesus was at the Temple Courts he and his disciples watched as the rich people threw in their offerings in large amounts. But a poor widow put in two small coins.
Jesus said, "I TELL YOU THE TRUTH, THIS WIDOW HAS PUT MORE INTO THE TREASURY THAN ALL THE OTHERS. THEY ALL GAVE OUT OF THEIR WEALTH; BUT SHE, GAVE OUT OF HER POVERTY, PUT IN EVERYTHING---ALL SHE HAD TO LIVE ON." Mark 12:41-44
Most of you know that I am the Founder of Table Talk Ministries, we make free home repairs for the elderly and the disabled.
We are currently working for clients in 6 states, plus the 5 jobs we will physically do and pay for, here in Indiana.
For the clients in other states, I will spend whatever amount of time I need to, on the phone trying to find someone in their area to help them. This may sound easy to you, but, it doesn't always work out that way.
You would think that all I would need to do is call the closest Church to the client and their needs would be met.
Since I started Table Talk 7 years ago, I have helped more than 20 people in 11 or 12 states.
3 of those people received help from a Church, yes, it was a 3. One Church in Columbus Georgia even asked me "is he a member of our congregation?" in a very rigid tone, I simply told her "no, and he never will be with that attitude!" I got a contractor down there to cut me a good deal and I paid for it myself.
Sometimes I wonder....how many people have read about Table Talk in the many newspaper and magazine articles written about us, or seen the TV news features in Terre Haute and Indy, or heard the five radio interviews, who have thousands or millions of dollars at their disposal and thought, "huh, he's a trucker making 55k and pays for that stuff himself, that's nice of him, but, never thought about donating a dime to us, (we are a tax-deductible public charity).
Then I remember the widow, that's me, sitting here typing this blog with $8.00 in my checking account (woo hoo pay day is tomorrow) and $378.00 in Table Talks account, knowing that I am doing a $700.00 job in 2 days.
It'll be paid for, no doubt.
I might not have much, but, my bills are paid, I put in my 6% to my 401, there's food in my cabinets, what else could there possibly be that I would need, besides, to give. So, I will, everything.
You see, I heard that Preacher too, "you need to step out of your comfort zone", I've been out of my comfort zone for the past 7 years now. I don't even know where it is at this point, and to tell you the truth, I have become quite comfortable here. All those wealthy people who have heard, read or seen the stories about Table Talk and not given, what do you want to bet that the 4 hours I sleep every night is 100 times better than the rest they get...
How much is your faith worth to you???
To me.........everything.
God Bless
