LinkedIn Follows Facebook and Twitter Adding Status Updates

You have just used LinkedIn to update your professional profile and had a profile for your company, but for your status updates on your business you went to Facebook and Twitter. Well that has now changed.

Now those who are admins of company profiles on LinkedIn can post real status updates and include a link! Which will allow you to share photo's, videos and much more. Now all updates you post to your company status will appear on your company follower's LinkedIn home page. Your followers will have the option to like, share even comment on your status update and in turn this "engagement" will also be seen by all of your company's followers' respective networks, providing your company, your brand with a whole new and expanded audience.

So just as your brand gains increasing exposure when your fans or followers share something via Facebook or Twitter to their followers/their network, the same will hold true for LinkedIn. So the more followers your company has, the better the chance for expanded exposure within the world of LinkedIn.

Keep these points in mind about the new changes:

  • Followers of your Company will see the Status Updates on their homepage or by going to your Company’s “Overview” tab. Each Follower’s network will also have an opportunity to see the posts- when the follower comments, likes, or shares.
  • You have to be an Administrator of your Company Page to post comments.
  • Posts can be up to 500 characters (including spaces) that's a lot of information.
  • You can track the analytics on each Company Status Update. The data appears about 24 hours after your update is published and updates on a daily basis.
  • Companies that post an excessive amount can be subject to review by LinkedIn which could put them at risk having their page deleted.

Also, here's a brief video LinkedIn created to explain the new "Follow Company" feature:

Now you have a whole new marketing platform to integrate into your marketing. Your small business can increase its reach no matter if you sell B2B or B2C. Just as you use Facebook and Twitter to reach into different markets now you will also by using LinkedIn. Every executive from Fortune 2000 companies have a profile now on LinkedIn and these changes gives you another arrow in your marketing quiver to reach them. Keep in mind all of this fresh relevant content that you are producing is being indexed by Google which will benefit your search engine results (SEO).
