Video Blog: Networking Tip - Your Business Card

How have you used your business card?
Your business card is the most inexpensive and yet most important marketing tool you possess. And yet so many small businesses minimize its usefulness. I wrote a blog where I stated that I judge a business by their business card, Well, that still holds true for me. However, what is also equally “sinful” is to have a great business card and not have them readily available to hand out. You should be passing out your business card at every networking opportunity you get.

@mark I have it on my project list to create you a CBNA business card ... shame on you for not having one. It will be my Christmas gift from me to you ... I'll let you see a proof of it before I print it.

You have me almost convinced to do a business card.

thanks, Greg....good tips. Another one you may consider helpful: don't have a glossy surface that prohibits writing notes on it....AND leave some white space on the back for those notes. Finally, and I note you've got this one nailed, use the back of the card for your special bullets you want folks to have about you.

I'm on the CBNA southside event planning team and try to get to other events around the city.

Sincerely,
For Him.

@christine Great point! However, I might add I rarely leave a connection without making sure that they get my card. As a Christ follower, I never know who God might put in my path. God might put a man or woman in my path for business, He might not. He might put them in my path to somehow use me to share the gospel, so that they can be blessed in knowing that eternity is theirs in Christ Jesus.

I look at my business card as a very key connecting tool. Plus, Christine it represents the professional side of me - my company. I agree with you 100% - we need to find ways to serve the connections that we meet. I'm glad you and I share that same spirit! If this conversation were in real time I would gladly ask you, "Christine, can I get one of your business cards (after of course I discovered a bit more what it is that you do - smile)?" And in the true spirit of our good discussion here, please let me know how I can help your business. Blessings!

I also feel it is very important that we ask others for their business cards before we offer them ours. Being willing to ask for others' cards is showing that we are interested in finding out who they are, what it is they do, and finally how we might be able to help them build their businesses.
